The Dragon and the Threshold

The word eclipse comes from the Greek ékleipsis: abandonment.
Literally, the light abandoning the Earth.

Eclipses happens when the Moon and the Sun come close to the nodes. ☊ ☋
The nodes aren't planets and they aren't stars. They're the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's, one heading north and one heading south.

The traditions call the north node the head of the dragon and the south node the tail of the dragon: caput draconis and cauda draconis in Latin, Rahu and Ketu in the Vedic tradition. It was said that the dragon swallows the light, and then gives it back.
✧
What we do know, and feel, is that we're in the middle of that threshold.
Eclipse season. Not separate events; one corridor. One door opening and another closing, and everything that happens inside it counts.
What defines the threshold is that the light is unstable. The Sun was swallowed and given back. The Moon is about to be. In between you can't see well, not because it's dark, but because the reference points moved. What was obvious three weeks ago isn't anymore, and what will be obvious in September hasn't arrived yet.
That's why everything feels fast and groundless at once.

The Medicine:
Don't decide.
It's what the old sources said and it's still the most useful thing: don't sign, don't launch, don't plant, don't pull anything out by the root. Not because it'll go badly, but because in the threshold you don't get the whole picture. You get half of it, and half can look like the whole.
What does work:
Watch.
In the threshold you pick up more than usual. The veil thins and information comes through that doesn't get through at other times.
Write it down.
Whatever moves in you these days is something, even if you don't yet understand what you're writing down.
Wait.
The second door closes what the first one opened, and until then you can't see the shape.
Hold.
The urge to assert and the urge to release will show up together, contradicting each other. That's not your confusion — it's literally the sky as it is these days.
Sleep.
In eclipse season taking care of the body comes first, because the defenses get a little cloudy too.

The Announcement
The sky marks a point that unfolds over the months that follow. The eclipse isn't the event. It's the announcement. The sign tells you what it's about.
On August 12 the Sun was eclipsed in Leo at 20°02', its own sign.
In the place where the Sun burns at full strength, it was swallowed in the middle of the afternoon.
Leo is the heart. The Sun's sign: the center, the one that lights up life and consciousness, the one that lets itself be seen. Leo is the self that dares to exist in front of others: dignity, creativity, pride, the child who wants to be recognized. It's the part of you that shines and needs to be seen for what it is.
This one fell on the dragon's tail, the South Node, and opens a new series along the Leo–Aquarius axis running to 2028.
On August 28 comes the lunar eclipse, in Pisces, at 4°55'.
Pisces has no outline: it's the ocean, dissolution, faith. Jupiter rules it, and it's where the self lets go and hands itself over to something larger. It's the part of you that dissolves so it can start again. What goes dark on the 28th goes dark there: in what no longer has shape, in what you've been carrying without quite knowing what it is.
This one falls on the head, the North Node, and closes a series that's been running since September 2024.
These two eclipses don't belong to the same cycle. What's closing (the Lunar eclipse) has been closing for two years. What's opening (the solar eclipse) has two more years ahead of it.

The Transits
Saturn is retrograde in Aries, in fall. Out of his element, rushed, without the patience that is his whole virtue. Whatever you're trying to structure or push forward may resist these days, because it needs time. Saturn is time.
Jupiter is still in Leo. Generous, and also inflated. Pride disguises itself very well as calling.
On the 27th, hours before the lunar eclipse, Mercury enters the heart of the Sun at 5° Virgo. Cazimi: its clearest position of the year, purified from the inside until nothing is left but clarity. Whatever becomes obvious to you that day, don't let it go. It's probably the same thing the Moon will ask you to release that night.
Pluto, Neptune and Uranus are forming continuous aspects to each other in air and fire signs, marking a great change of era on the world stage.

Oils for the threshold
Frankincense (☉) — one drop on the palms Myrrh (♄) — one drop on the chest, for what is closing Sandalwood (♆) — one drop on the feet (from the 26th onward)

To find out which area of your life each eclipse is activating, and which themes are the live ones for you right now, let's book a reading.
If you're in a season of transition and feel that what's moving asks for more containment, let's set up a call to see whether a three-month advisory is the right fit for this moment.
